The EducateVA program consists of two levels. Level I is comprised of online and face-to-face instruction. Level II – the part of the EducateVA program that makes us so unique – is the post-coursework experience. After Level I, as a graduate seeks employment and during their first year of teaching, EducateVA partners students with mentors to guide, instruct and advise them in order to ensure they receive the support they need to thrive as a new teacher. Additional instructional support is also offered through Level II modules and three required Level II Saturday seminars.
The program consists of 220-hours of instruction delivered within a 18-week format for professional studies training. Instruction is delivered online via Blackboard, and will focus on the following modules:
- Foundations of Teaching
- Instructional Design
- Teaching and Learning Content Methods
- Teaching Reading in the Content Area
- Classroom Management
- Current Trends and Issues in Education
